My dream destination: India – Rob Morgan, Banks Sadler

India – the vibrant emerging MICE destination that has so much to offer for international events.

India is one of my dream destinations with its captivating colours, regional cuisines, famous buildings, royal palaces, incredible wildlife and unique culture. India offers vast land from hiking the Himalayas to sundown cocktails on the beaches of Goa.

I would take a trip to the world famous city of Jaipur, a destination of colourful bazaars, the dramatic Amber Fort and royal City Palace. Not forgetting to pass by New Delhi and Agra.

New Delhi for its impressive colonial buildings and array of 5 star hotels, Agra to see the incredible Taj Mahal, a bucket-list stop for most people and one of the wonders of the world, and finally on to Jaipur, for its colourful bazaars, its famous Amber fort, and the city’s palace.

Jaipur has an excellent selection of 5 star hotels, including some of our favourite international brands; Taj Hotels, Fairmont, Le Meridian and Hilton all offer unique luxury experiences and adequate meeting space for reasonably sized groups. Famously known as The Pink City, it is the epitome of magnificence and vibrancy. Banks Sadler currently works with many global companies who have regional headquarters in India, so it won’t be long before we start considering Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC) for future conferences. It is managed by Accor and offers South Asia’s biggest event facility.

Jaipur is also an excellent destination for incentive travel. The weather is best between October and March, allowing groups to explore this royal place of majestic forts, tranquil temples and beautiful havelis during off peak season. A remarkable trip is an elephant ride to the magnificent Amber Forte or Nahargarh Fort, which both create an impressive backdrop to the city.

Local partners in Jaipur can support with innovative programmes, unique brand experiences and custom-made itineraries to create exceptional events. Get drenched in a rose petal shower, outfitted in a traditional Rajput costume complete with a turban, or for the most extravagant themed evening in the precincts of the Jaipur’s City Palace, then soar over the majestic Amber fort in a hot air balloon.

Just 50 miles from Jaipur, is the historic Ajabgarh Valley, one of Rajasthan’s most rural locations. Here you can stay at the incredible Amanbagh Hotel which is hemmed in by the stark Aravali Hills, dotted with palm trees and mustard fields. Its Mughal architecture blends in perfectly with the tranquil surroundings that draw on India’s remarkable wellness heritage. Close by you can plan unique retreats, journeys and adventures – one of which is an unmissable experience at the Bengal tiger sanctuary of Sariska National Park, just a short drive away.

India offers a variety of creditable third party suppliers who strive to deliver a flawless, world class experience through their warm hospitality. With India becoming an emerging MICE destination it is important that we partner with third parties who our committed to the meetings industry and have involvement with associations such as the (ICPB), (SITE), (ICCA) & (MPI) as this provides our customers with the reassurance that India can deliver that ‘money can’t buy’ experience.
